In California there are labor/delivery/recovery rooms called birthing rooms where you have a room to yourself and then their are the regular rooms where you share a room with other new moms. Well what makes me mad is anyone can get into the birthing room it's a 'whoever gets their first type of situation!' They don't have special rooms for couples with insurance and it makes me mad! They told me it doersnt matter if the woman is on welfare or insurance if she gets here before you you are stuck in a regular room. I just think I should be able to 'pay' for a special room if I want to!

Are my hormones just kicking in or should I really be mad??? I really weanted a birthing room!
Also do these same laws apply in other states?

Hmmm weird Wild. Most of the hospitals around here all have plenty of birthing rooms and then after delivery you go into another usually semi-private room. They are sure a lot nicer than when I had my children in an ice cold sterile envoirment.

a hospital can not discriminate between a person who does and does not have insurance....

But a hospital can differ if people are willing to pay more. If you got a good insurance, they'll have to give you a better room - but this of course costs you some money. If the insurance just pays the basics as any not-insured person does, then you are definitely right.

[QUOTE]That is what you get for living in California. :-) The reason why it's that way is because of the minorities.

Do you mean that I am a minority? Last time I rode through CA, I thought I might be a minority. Oh, I'm white, blonde hair, blue eyes.

I knew I was a minority! How about MY preference points on job applications? And MY minority preference on government contracts?
