ROFL. Like anyone with an illegal substance is gonna 1 - WANT to pay the tax, and 2 - turn theirselves in like that.

Welcome, Blurainbow http://www.dumblaws.com/ubb/smile.gif and a great link - I have never heard of anything like that. Perhaps - it's a long shot, this - using drugs is not illegal in NC. That's the case in the UK, at any rate - it's possession or trade that's illegal. So if you've smoked, say, 50 grams (that's nearly 2oz) of marijuana without being caught, you can still be charged with tax evasion. Maybe??? I think they must have too much narcotics in NC. How else would they have dreamt this up? http://www.dumblaws.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Ahem - I hope nobody spotted my edit! http://www.dumblaws.com/ubb/redface.gif

The thing that gets me is the fact that paying taxes on the drugs don't make them legal....you can still be charged for possessing them!

To me that's why they should just go ahead and make them legal.

This law may be in plce so that they can throw extra charges at drug offenders-the feds did this with marijuana in the late '30's if I'm not mistaken. Another reason may be to make seizures easier...
