It's a matter of Homeland Security. We can't very well have nerdy types using laptop computers and these so-called "cell phones" in abandoned school parking lots, can we? He's probably talking to his terrorist "cell" on his "cell phone" right now!

I can relate to that. The cops don't even ask you who you want to tow it. They just call whomever their buddy is. I'm no angel for sure. Was arrested and had my daughter and a friend in the car with me. They made them get out of my car at 2 a.m. walking and had my car towed. Oh don't get me started. Being a cop is just for people that are too lazy to work and want to be bullies.

I wish there was a smiley with the head exploding. :mad I hate unwarranted suspicion. You would not believe how much I hate it. I could go on and on about all the situations and stories I collect, where the whole issue is based on someone's presumptive suspicions about innocent activities. I want to slap people who do that.

You know, I wanted to become a cop too when I was young, but then I decided to finish kindergarten.

Some mistake at the ISP caused him to only be able to operate his wireless laptop at the parking lot of a school, on public property. This man was arrested and treated like a maffioso for surfing on the internet on the only place where it would function. Or, as the author puts it, the only thing he had done wrong, was "sitting by yourself in a parking lot on public property typing on a laptop".

I don't think Phreakmeister was saying that this was an illegal use of the internet, I think the title was meant to present the authorities point of view. There was nothing illegal about it, but the cops arrested him anyway. Thats makes it seem like they thought he was using the internet illegally.
Phreakmeister is that right?

Completely true. Officially, the man was arrested for illegal use of the internet. Even though noone here can see anything illegal about it. The subject "Illegal use of internet" didn't reflect my own personal opinion, but referred to the indictment.
