View Full Version : Moving to a new appartment - Lithuania

March 5th, 2002, 06:38 AM
In Lithuania,
when a person moves to a new appartment (changes his place of living), he has to go to police and register himself. However, police have a right (this is never used these days, but still) not register you- this means that you are not allowed to live in your own home!
For couple of years people are not punished for non-registering. However, non-registered people can not receive driver's licence, for example.

Welcome to Dumb Laws, c2h5oh http://www.dumblaws.com/ubb/smile.gif (That's alcohol, yeah?)

This doesn't surprise me at all - there were many crazy catch-22 laws in the former soviet bloc.
