I say Brazil. I dunno why, just a gut feeling. I dunno when it will happen either. Probably at least half a century from now.

I say none.. When the US goes down in flames (And it will) the world goes down with it and THE EARTH WILL BE VOID, without form, and DARKNESS WILL BE UPON THE FACE OF THE DEEP.. History starts all over again in another cycle.... :cool

I think you are right if we talk militaristic. USA will not go down like Ancient Rome, Napoleons France or Hitlers Germany. It will happen nice and smooth, I think...:p

Ha....at first I misread the thread title and thought it said 'World SEcession'. I had images of bits of the Earth breaking away to form new planets. :)

But I will say....EU!

eu would be nice but they'll need decades and decades to come together - imho. whereas china has almost no opportunity of avoiding to become a world's leader... ;D

Why is everybody ignoring Russia? Yes, they have problems right now, but they have actually barely touched the vast natural resources under their control.

Actually, I think that it would be a wonderful idea for Russia to become the next great world dominating power. They'll finally put a stop to the whiniest and most self-righteous nations in the world.

In the cold war everybody except the USA and the USSR had hardly any choice over what was going on.

Witch, the Soviets weren't actually trying to take over the world - just hellbent on oppressing their own people. You're obviously an ultra-Reaganite.

jpaul you need to study some history of the USSR then post back..

Sure, they did seize Eastern Europe after WW2, and they did support other Communist regimes in China and Cuba. But did they ever try and make any serious inroads into the West? No - they were far more interested in beating America in the arms and space races. Flexing their muscles. That's my theory anyway.

I was, and what I recall is that those Euro surrender-monkies pretty much were happy to play jiggly-wiggly rollover to any soviet propaganda that got broadcast.

Good theory Jp but it just ain't true. The USSR was behind commies trying to take over countries all around the world.. They tried to force us out of Berlin Germany. Put nukes in Cuba, took over governments all over South America.. Ect ect

They were not nice when they were in their power. I think they are ok now and some day will be a big player in the world again..

The South America argument was just an excuse to overthow left democratic governments there.

With a serie of US trained dictators as result.

So one can say that the USA was trying to take over the world too.
