It is illegal to hunt camels in Arizona.
Seems that sometime back in the 1800's the army got the bright idea that camels might be good for fighting the indians in the deserts of Arizona so they imported about a hundred or so of them. Then they found out that the camels just would not adapt to the conditions in Arizona for whatever reason so they turned the ones they had loose in the desert to fend for themselves and Arizona passed a law forbidding the hunting of the camels to protect them. They all soon died but the law didn't. Apparently it is still on the books last I heard.
