Question about an Australian law

Maybe xolin can help me out on this one:

I just heard somewhere that in some parts of Australia it's illegal to put carp back in the water after you've caught them. Is this true? And if true, which parts of Australia have this law?

Certain lakes in California have a "must kill" law for some illegally-introduced fish species, as well as some species that are overpopulated and therefore stunted in size.

I would guess that the Aussie carp are the exotic Asian Grass Carp... able to ruin a waterway in very short time.

Grass Carp are the fish you may have seen videos of -- jumping into motorboats when the boats pass by.
