I see where Burger King is recalling another bazillion promotional toys because they have little parts that can choke youngsters. It seems like they have to do this every few months. The Pokeman bubble things were a disaster, and before that it was something else. Who designs their toys anyway, Dr. Evil?

I understand the concern to make our children as safe as possible, but it seems the only safe toy is no toy at all...

Paulgro! Surely you're not suggesting that children should play with themselves? http://www.dumblaws.com/ubb/smile.gif
Do BK think that toys are the only thing they sell that can choke youngsters? Mmm, lovely M.R.M.... http://www.dumblaws.com/ubb/frown.gif

The only toy I ever got to play with was a wooden spool and a piece of string. And it wasn't a very long piece of string, either.

Actually, some things I had were so much more dangerous than any Burger King toy it's ridiculous. I had a homemade sling for throwing rocks that flung them VERY hard and VERY inaccurately. The only safe place to be within 50 yards was to be the one with the sling. David must have been aiming at the King and hit Goliath by accident.

I had a slingshot too Cleo! A really good one too, wooden handle, leather where the rock goes http://www.dumblaws.com/ubb/wink.gif

Slingshots are cool and quite accurate. We used to make them out of a forked stick and some old inner-tube rubber. Shoot pea-sized rocks.
This sling was a piece of leather strap about 6 feet long with a pouch in the middle. You put a golf-ball sized rock in the pouch, hold both ends of the strap in one hand, and get the thing whirling about 100 MPH over your head. Then you let go of one end of the strap. The rock flies like a missile, head high and in any direction. You're supposed to aim the thing by letting go of the strap at just the right time to make the rock go forward, but I never got any good at that. But I did get enough velocity to break a window three houses down. Now THAT'S a cool toy!

Nope. I guess the days of slingshots and other cool toys are gone. Now you can't even give a child a "Pokeman" bubble without getting a lawsuit. Sad.
I also had a toy rocket that I'd fill with water and compressed air. My Grandpa made it out of a bleach bottle, tire pump, and a brass fitting. It was too cool. Went up a good 50 feet.

I see in today's paper that Burger King is recalling YET ANOTHER bazillion toys because . . . they've got little parts that can get loose and choke youngsters!
They'd better go back to those lame cardboard "crowns" from the 1970's. Gee whiz you guys.
