An act of communication that causes someone to be shamed, ridiculed, held in contempt, lowered in the estimation of the community, or to lose employment status or earnings or otherwise suffer a damaged reputation. Such defamation is couched in 'defamatory language'. Libel and slander are defamation.
In Dutch: smaad en laster

I dont know if there is or not honestly Bi but maybe there should be because it's a very rotten thing...
I doubt it tho, not with just a threat...

Since defamation is a crime, then the threat of defamation could be against the law, but I very much doubt it. Ever hear anyone say "I'll kill you!"? That's a threat of murder...

"I'll tell the entire world about our affair, mr. Clinton......"
That's a threat of defamation, but is that illegal?
And besides, if you're afraid someone will defamate (or defame, what is the right word?) you, why would you sue someone like that? Wouldn't that cause a lot more publicity?

Well I wouldn't sit idly(sp) by while someone smears me and my husband's reputations. In a nutshell, the person who is threatening us is a jealous little man and looking to ruin my husband because Ken is moving up the publicity ladder and this other guy is still stuck teaching Martial arts out of a run down church basement.
He's just looking for any way to bring my husband down because he's dripping with jealousy

AFAIK:It all depends then. I'm not going to poke my nose too far in here, but if this guy has something to say about your husband that he can spread about, then it's all down to whether or not what he says is true. If he tells lies then that's libel or slander. But just the threat of it, I don't see what you can do about that. If you're seriously worried then seek legal advice, I suppose.
