Me? Usually a bumbag (US Eng: Fannypack) with wallet, keys, small change, calculator, mini-maglite, screwdriver, tissue. I often carry a small backpack containing a cleverly-assembled toolkit (more screwdrivers, 100mm adjustable spanner, LX tape, cheapo Leatherman, gas lighter, and odds and ends), a first aid kit, a sewing kit, often a multimeter, 3 or 4 juggling balls, water bottle, diary, notebook, pens & pencils.
Hey - I'm glad I started this, cuz I can see a few more things I might need! :lol
So how about you?

Musts - My wallet - Car keys - and my pocket knife.
All my other accoutrements are unnecessary most of the time. :)

In my jeans?
Left front pocket-- car keys with tiny-but-bright LED flashlight attached, house and garage keys and a P-38 can opener, all affixed to a yawara stick. Coins are carried in one of those soft plastic squeeze-open holders.
Right front pocket -- BenchMade ATS-34 folding knife clipped to pocket edge, Leatherman Micra. Sometimes a 3-bladed Gerber Stockman takes place of the BenchMade.
Right rear-- bandanna, comb.
Left rear-- empty.
Bellybag--
Front zipper pocket-- wallet with cash, credit cards, other access cards, small list of crucial phone numbers with about $1.50 in change taped to the back of it, a second folding wallet with my "Retired" badge and credentials/driver's license. Misc. business cards.
Second [larger] zipper pocket-- couple of pens, half-a-pencil, a Bic lighter wrapped in paper and tape to prevent accidental gas loss. 2 pair of FlexCuffs and a fully-loaded Glock 17 magazine.
Rear velcro compartment-- Glock 26 and a Surefire tactical flashlight.
Cellphone clips to belt or is in pocket. Belt is a Wilderness Tactical stitched nylon, with 'biner attachment.
....then there's always the registered hands, the acid tongue, and the piano wire concealed in the tie...:wink :lol :lol :wave

Actually, that stuff goes with me just about any time I leave the house. Usually, I mow the lawn with just the Glock and cellphone on me. :p :wink

Pretty much. You ought to have seen my "combat load" when I was working! Add belt holster with Glock 17, radio, 2nd gun, steel "duster" handcuffs, collapsable baton, more ammo magazines, belt badge, pepperspray, and ballistic vest (soft body armor)... all under a coat and tie!
No wonder cops sometimes have such a lousy attitude! :lol :wave

You actually can open a bottle of beer with a lighter. Someone showed that to me the other day......it was really neat. I think it is just certain disposable lighters though that it will work.
Ok what do I carry with me? You've never looked in a woman's purse have you?:lol The kitchen sink won't fit.

You can open a bottle of beer wit a lighter, a spoon, a knife, another bottle of beer, and anything else hard. I have seen it done with a folded newspaper. I can't remember last time I used a conventional bottleopener to open a beer.

Used to open them on the bumper of my '57 Chevy... I'd really like to know that trick... how to open a beer with a folded newspaper.:confused
[handcuffs work really well as bottle openers, too]:wink

All these knives and guns - am I the only one to carry a first aid kit? I should add that I carry a No. 8 Opinel (http://www.opinel.fr/FR/catalogue/index.htm) penknife - one of the few really good things to come out of France :) And one or two handy wipe things that you get in certain restaurants.

Well... I carry a fairly comprehensive first-responder first-aid kit in all the cars. I'm surprised at the number of people who buy a first aid kit and think they are ready for whatever comes. Training is the key.... while it is nice to have supplies, knowing what needs to be done and what should NOT be done is more important IMO. If you know what needs to be done, you can oftimes improvise.
How and when to use the supplies in a kit is certainly important... but the moment you are faced with a first aid situation is NOT the time to begin to read the manual that came with your kit!
I have an old Opinel knife too... works OK for slicing cheese, apples and pears... as well as the foil around a wine cork...but that's about all.

I love the edge you can get on an Opinel :) So sharp, yet definitely a tool and not a weapon. I can easily(-ish) cut through thick bacon rind with mine. I loathe all those crap military style knives that look "hard" with their chunky mouldings and canvas sheath, but they're actually useless except as paperweights.
You're right about first aid preparation. I wish more people would get themselves trained. The kit I carry is very small and basic - swabs, band-aid, bandage, antiseptic cream, painkillers, some homeopathic stuff (that really works!!! It does!!), scissors, and so on. Clean water is one of the most useful items of first aidery.

You are right. Most of these inexpensive modern "stainless" blades can't be sharpened worth a hoot, except on a buffing wheel. That way you'll get an extremely sharp edge, you can easily shave with it... but the edge will " turn" when the slightest working pressure is put on it. My favorite knives, like my old Opinel, are made of high-carbon steel --which requires some modicum of care, but takes and holds an edge well.
Some of the harder stainless steels make nice blades, [my Benchmade is one] but they are quite expensive.
re: first aid-- At one time I was a representative of my office on a courthouse committee that was concerned with "disaster preparedness" [earthquakes, fires, floods, riots.... the usual Southern California stuff:lol ]. It seemed that everyone was all equipment-oriented, wanting hand-held radios, TV cameras, search-and-rescue stuff as well as a large number of bodybags... I suggested that we get all personnel First Aid Certified through the Red Cross.... writing in a memo: "If I am severely injured and I see another person walking by, which would I want that person to have... a remote-broadcast TV camera? ...Or some comprehensive training in first-responder medical techniques?" I went on to explain that intellegent first aid training could be used in the home or anywhere the trainee happened to be, while this hi-tech stuff was pretty-much anchored to the courthouse.
I wasn't asked to continue to participate...:lol The now have their remote-broadcast TV capability and a couple thousand body bags... but no training.

I have a big bag... affectionately known as The Tardis. It's lovely...soft... HUGE.
Inside... my journal, library book, the kids change purses, small ziploc bag of first aid-y stuff, tylenol for kids, and pain killers for me. keys, my small handbag with passport, bankbook, and money purse. An emory board. Emergency make up bag. Kids books seem to migrate to my bag when we go out. Sunglasses/regular glasses. My asthma medicines. Camera - (you never know what you're going to see to snap).
Oh... almost forgot the kitchen sink. :lol

I am lucky if i carry my little purse, i have a little cute purse, it's for a credit card/ lipliner/lisence and mascara and that's it! I'm not one of those women that carry anything, it's like lots of jewely, i hate jewelry, it makes me feel weighed down:lol Jesse always wanted to get me that until i told him i just don't care to wear it, it sits in my jewely box, i don't even wear it when we go someplace fancy, but when i put earings in it's funny because jesse always notices and thinks they look so good...i think i'll put some in for him today! I'm always afraid i'll get in a fight and someone will yank on them...:lol
I keep a diaper bag in the truck though, that has diapers/wipes/usually a water bottle incase someone gets thisrty and a few of the kids army men! Oh and some desetine unless he gets a red butt, but i just leave it in the truck all the time!:lol
