I'm 20 year old from Dunedin, New Zealand. I have just finished my studies in Television. I'm hoping to get a job with a documentry firm as an Editor (This firm makes lots of the discovery channel stuff, and is owned by yanks). I also enjoy Directing and Scriptwriting and hopefully want to get into the NZ film scene in the footsteps of people like Peter Jackson(Lord of Rings) and Jane Campion (Piano)...Phew!

I am studying History. I was hoping to be able to study Journalism from this summer onwards, but thanks to my wonderful (NOT) professor, that is not possible anymore. I now hope to be able to carry on studying History.

I love Catch 22 aswell Horseman....have you read the sequal? 'Closing Time'....I wouldn't recomend it unless you're very strange, imaginative or on alot of drugs...I fall into a couple of those catagories so I quite liked it in the end.

I do have a name, which for reasons of generalized paranoia I will not divulge, and I am as far as I can see, older than most of you here, usually be a factor of 2 or 3 in some cases. I work in a technical field, been a machinist, musician( though not very good one ;) ), and artist.
One of my hobbies is studying history, specializing in war and military studies. Sideline into Byzantine and Roman history, though it has been a few years since I last did any worthwhile research in that area. Another hobby is this marvelous time waster I have in front of me, called a computer by most, but "#$&% machine" by me.:D :p
I am a hippie redneck, one of the few, the proud, the misunderstood. I can spout conservative and liberal dogma with the best of them. Also conversent in right wing reactionary rhetoric, and leftist polemics, with a fine smattering of communist propaganda if you really get me going.
What stuff I really mean and believe, well, that is for me to know and is no one elses darn business.

We had a thread about what instruments DL members play, but that was a long time ago. There's quite a few musicians among us, I'm glad to say.
I play guitar mostly, Sjax. Styles range from punk to classical (-ish. I'm not classically trained), via jazz, blues, reggae (I LOVEreggae!), funk, folk, good ol' rock 'n' roll, and so on. I've bee playing over 20 years now, that's why I say I'm good: if I didn't like what I was doing, I'd have given up by now. I've just started teaching guitar.
I also play mandolin and mandola (folk styles mainly, but not exclusively), as well as little bits of piano. I like using sequencers too, for making dance music.

Your birthday's on the 31st Dec, and you like Bushmills? Do you really expect us to fall for that? :lol:lol
I'm right with you on the music score, although I reckon the Dead Kennedys and early Bad Brains (not forgetting MDC, either) are as good as most Brit punk, if not better. :) (oh yeah, IMO best band = Massive Attack, if you hadn't picked up on this yet) :)
Do you think we should have a Ska revival? It's been away for a good while, and I know a few people who are digging out their old Specials albums.

Yes that is my brithday,it's great I don't need to pay out for a party as ever fecker is having one that night and I do do drink Bush by the bucket.
The ska revival is on the way again as a lot of label's are re-releasing a lot of their stuff again, and there all so seem's to be a northern soul revival:wave best punk band has to be the Undertone's

Ah, now I'll never forget the way John Peel played Teenage Kicks to death... Ol' Mr Sharkey's lost something of his original energy now, don't you think? Though I have heard they may be reforming - which is probably a bad idea, like when the Pistols got back together for the Filthy Lucre tour... sad. Myself, I was more into Crass and Flux, and the suburban anarchist crowd. These days I like almost anything that isn't commercial pop tat.

They have been giging for the last couple of year's though Fergal is'nt with them, seen them not so long ago and they where pretty hot.
Went to see Stiff Little Finger's a couple of week's ago was a bit dire but their still one of the best band's to come out of Belfast.
In the next couple of month's I think it's BBC NI ,are about to screen a program they have been making over the last two year's on Terrie Hooley the owner of Good Vibe's the label thet first recorded Teenage Kick's.The guy is mental and the Granda of Belfast punk, look out for me on it (i hope).....:clap

Actually Metsoila. That's a VERY small place right next to Elimäki, which is little bigger. You might know it from Mustila Arboretum forest. Elimäki is about 123 kilometers away from Helsinki and about 20 kilometers from Kouvola.
If you saw Hyppönen&Embuske experience TV-show yesterday (thursday) you saw mr. Miika Heijala who viuhahti (I don't know what that is in English:) ). It comes again in Sunday, you can see it then if you like. Heijala is also from Elimäki. Last, but not least, Elimäki is also known (at least to some) for the net site www.virhe.org. Same difference... :D
*looks slghtly askance at tissue, but accepts it in the spirit of universal sisterhood*
