Hear Ye, Hear Ye!

From this day forth, if an athletic association imposes a sanction or punishment upon a member/player, said sanction/punishment must be enforced!

The penelty for breaking this law shall be for the ruling members who revoked or circumvented the punishment to have the aformentioned player do to them whatever s/he did to deserve punishment in the first place.

For example; for giving Mike Tyson's boxing licence back, the boxing association shall be "nibbled" on the ear by Mr. Tyson. If Tonya Harding is ever allowed to skate again, a hillbilly with a club will be waiting.

I'm so tired of hearing one day that a person will be banned for life and then is able to go back to the sport after a year or two (Tyson), or be banned for the rest of the season and be back again within 3-6 games (Rodman). http://www.dumblaws.com/ubb/mad.gif

I would also like to see atletic bodies impose penalties on things that really matter. With the NCAA for example, if you beat your girlfriend to within an inch of her life, nothing seems to happen to you. But place a $20 bet on a game and you're done. Something is wrong with the things they consider truly important...

How true, CB. I never really could see what was all that wrong with players gambling on their own sport. I know that it's a conflict of interest and all that, but if they aren't shaving points for the payout, then what's wrong with it?

What really gets me is that the sports associations whine and complain about the moral character of the players when much of the problem could be resolved if they showed a little backbone!

Yes, I heard about that. But that's a crimminal proceeding. I was more interested in the internal regulations of the sport, such as boxing licences or suspensions.

I admit that I stared this topic after I heard that Washington DC granted Tyson permission for his next fight after Nevada cancelled it. I mean, if the man can't sit through a press confrerence without losing control like a Jerry Springer guest, then he has no business being allowed in the ring.
