Time for Bush to See The Realities of Iraq

"There's a lot of people in the world who don't believe that people whose skin color may not be the same as ours can be free and self-govern. I reject that. I reject that strongly. I believe that people who practice the Muslim faith can self-govern. I believe that people whose skins aren't necessarily -- are a different color than white can self-govern."

What does such careless talk say about the mind of this administration? Note that the clearly implied antecedent of the pronoun "ours" is "Americans." So the president seemed to be saying that white is, and brown is not, the color of Americans' skin. He does not mean that. But that is the sort of swamp one wanders into when trying to deflect doubts about policy by caricaturing and discrediting the doubters............. what he suggested was: Some persons -- perhaps many persons; no names being named, the smear remained tantalizingly vague -- doubt his nation-building project because they are racists.

Is this not usuallythe areaa reserved for democratic criticism? To resort to race and blame ideas on the others racism?

Also, Bush begins a lot of statements with "There's a lot of people who...".

"There's a lot of people who think we should pull out of Iraq..."

"There's a lot of people who would have Saddam back in power..."

He throws strawmen around like there's no tomorrow. It's basically all he's got.

What color were the people that won our freedom from England & setup our constitution? I think that may be what Bush was talking about. He didn't slam people of color as he said they were just as able as whites to run a free government.. I like the way people spin things however they want them to come out and the sheepie go along..

W1che, W1che, W1che. You never were a bright kid were you. It seems like you only believe what you want to believe, disregarding evidence that contradicts you illogical ideas. "I know your mind's opaque, but try thinking more if only for your own sake."

w1che, as far as I can tell, GWB is not saying anything good or bad about non-White people. He does seem to be trying to imply, however, that people who think his plan (and I use the term loosely) for Iraq won't work, are racists. Then again, given GWB's normal level of eloquence, it's quite possible that he was trying to order a steak and fries. Who knows.

You're right Dave & so is Bush.. Liberals do like to think they are better than 99% of people in the world and Libs love to feel that no one can make it without their help & guidances. They have been treating blacks in America that way for years & look where it has gotten the blacks.. nowhere.. In the end the blacks that have made it have done it on their own..

W1che, what planet are you from, if it wasn't for libs and the Left, blacks would still be enslaved.

Nick do you think that even had the South won the war there would still be slaves in America today? It wasn't liberals that freed the slaves but they did help.. It's only been the the last 50 to 60 years that liberals have treated everyone that doesn't have skin the color of theirs like some kind of pets just like they are doing the Arabs now. The new liberal fad is feel sorry for Arabs & blame America because the pet Arabs are having to kill Americans..

Hmm, I think we all knew the republican party 150 years ago was different than the one today. Republican was considered left back then. Most abolitionist were the equivalent of left back then. And not all fundamental christians wanted to end slavery. :smash

It was a different party about a hundred years ago. Take Strom Thurmond for example. :wink

The truth is, the old Dixiecrats (racist Democrats) fled to the Republican party in the 1960's.

Dean was pointed out by sharpton in the primaries and Kerry... wel he should have learned.
Democratic strategist Donna Brazile criticized Sen. John Kerry yesterday for failing to put black and Hispanic leaders into senior campaign positions, saying it raised serious questions about his commitment to racial diversity.
In a new sign of growing political discontent among the Democrats' large minority base, Miss Brazile, who managed Al Gore's presidential campaign in 2000 — the first black woman to hold that post in her party — admonished the Kerry campaign for not involving more minorities in the development of the Massachusetts senator's campaign policy, strategy and message. http://www.washtimes.com/national/20040504-110932-5540r.htm

Its rather funny to see the radical quota afirmative action crowed go after their own.
