This is a precedent case, it's more important than it looks since it's the power of the EU in question. Me? I don't mind the metric or imperial systems and can convert from one to the other easily enough. But if this guy wants to sell his stuff in pounds and ounces, I can't think of a good reason why he shouldn't.

Well being in the US I wouldn't know what I was getting in metric. But I guess if I had to figure it out I could. What I'm saying is yes he should be able to sell as he chooses and especially if his customers want it that way. Maybe his customers will go to his defense.

I had posted that on another board when it came out. It did seem like a big to do about nothing!

In the end it's the same stuff...why do they care? Glad to see that the courts are spending their valueable time on such cases http://www.dumblaws.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

As I mentioned, it IS a big deal because it's a little guy taking on European legislation. There's a hefty anti-Europe group paying the little guy's legal fees. I don't know if folks outside Europe are aware of quite how important the whole Euro-thing is. Example: there's a man who a few days ago admitted donating £5million to the Conservative Party (right-wing, largely anti-Europe), he said that he'll withdraw his donation if the Party chooses a pro-European leader in any leadership challenge. Blackmail, basically.

Everybody's frightened that we'll (the various European nations, that is) all form a large federation with centralised goverment, and lose our national sovreignty. Even though if we did, the US would look like a third-world nation in comparison (I exaggerate, but not too wildly). Given that this continent has been divided by war so often in the past that some kind of binding association is a very good idea, and that I (and quite a few others) don't mind whether I'm governed by idiots in Westminster or in Brussels...

Give a Brit a rod and they'll take a chain. Anyone thinking we'll convert to metric in Sauk County is a couple pecks shy of a bushel. How would we figure out how many square furlongs there are in a hectare if they didn't teach it in public schools?

Well I WAS all for Oz losing any ties it had with England up until that fairly persuasive input Dipy...I think it's fine how it is http://www.dumblaws.com/ubb/wink.gif...really! http://www.dumblaws.com/ubb/smile.gif

I must admit I'm all for Oz becoming a republic (shade off topic here), it's a proper grown-up nation now and should be treated, and regard itself as such. Oz just needs to put a few media barons in their proper places, that's all.
