One of my personal heroes was sued some years ago in New York. He had several ads in newspapers where he simply stated: "Only 14 days left", below that he added the number of his bank account. Within the next two weeks he repeated the same ad with the daily countdown. The people donated money, some million $$$ if I remember correctly. Somewhen one of the clever donating people recognised that he spent the money without any purpose and sued the man because of fraud. Of course the lawsuit was not successful because the man didn't promise anything. For me he is a genius http://www.dumblaws.com/ubb/smile.gif.

Absolute genius!

A fictitious story I read in a comic, Judge Dredd I think, was about a girl who had set up a Billing Service. This involved sending bills to people, bills for no services rendered except... sending the bill!! In the story, 95% of people would just throw the bill away, but she made a living out of the remaining 5% who just read the bill and paid it!!

Your guy, Ogb, should be a business advisor! A great personal hero!

I don't think I'd want a business advisor that makes a living picking on the "not so bright". Sure, he may not have done anything legally wrong...just morally.. My 0.02

What had he done that was morally wrong? He published a daily countdown and his bank details. According to Ogb's story he didn't make any false promises at all. What was morally wrong? I think it's hysterical, and shows great imagination.

It is possible that there was some public fundraising event going on at the time. If that's true, then maybe he was morally in the wrong, but if he's just doing this out of the blue, then good luck to him!

He may not have promised anything...but there had to have been other insentives for people to deposit money. There had to be something going on somewhere and people thought that was where to dump cash? I dunno, it just smells a lil' fishy to me.

According to my opinion it only shows how stupid the people are. Don't know if they expected shares, a religious organisation or whatever - but anyone who pays money without a special purpose isn't worth to feel pity with.

I'm with Idnew!

I mean, if the 5% or so actually paid, that makes them pretty dumb. My husband overlooks every bill!

People would give millions of dollars to an ad stating "Only 14 days left"? I think, no, I'm pretty **** sure something's been left out. Maybe I should go write my address in an ad with a catchy slogan, and if I get millions of dollars, then I'll see where your stance is at. Otherwise, this is essentially shoosing the evil of two lessers.
