CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Gertrude Walton was recently targeted by the recording industry in a lawsuit that accused her of illegally trading music over the Internet. But Walton died in December after a long illness, and according to her daughter, the 83-year-old hated computers.
More than a month after Walton was buried in Beckley, a group of record companies named her as the sole defendant in a federal lawsuit, claiming she made more than 700 pop, rock and rap songs available for free on the Internet under the screen name "smittenedkitten."

sounds like her identity was stolen and used by a music criminal.. shame on them for stealing all that music.. mmmm.. baaaad people.. someone should do something about it.. :lol

yeah right.. get a life already.. lower the price of cd's that take a penny to make and u charge 20 bucks for em, and the artist doesnt even git half of that.. everyone else gits the 'pie' first.. and with u having to buy the whole album to get just the one song u like.. start puttin out singles again..

ip's are easy to fake , any wannabe hacker can do it, heck look at all the 'anonymous' surfin progs out there u can get.. doesn't take much to make ur ip look like someone else's.. which means it would link back to their home phone number and address.. however, i would think she would have to have a computer in the house.. prolly one of her grandchildren??.
