Our Madison WI Police Chief Dick Williams was embarassed a couple years ago. On 5/24/98 he stored his 9mm Glock service pistol in the oven for some reason, and forgot it was in there when he went to preheat the oven to cook a turkey. The bullet in the chamber went off and blew a hole through the oven and a wall. True story. He's a pretty good Police Chief but kinda sloppy with his firearms.

Man, I thought my ex-girlfriend was a bad cook! http://www.dumblaws.com/ubb/biggrin.gif But seriously though cleoeo, this guy's a genious compared to the fool we have running the police department here in Milwaukee-he considers his tenure a success even though arrests and illeagal gun seizures are doen and crime is up!

Chief Williams is doing fine; he's quite popular and considered fair and effective. The Madison PD is top notch. Chief Williams still gets a lot of razz about being a bang up cook and you can imagine the Barney Fife comments.
I think it's funny too, but I am upset about the cavalier attitude people in this country have toward leaving loaded firearms lying around. It gives us safety conscious gun owners hives.

I was going to ask why he thought the oven was a good place to keep his gun, but then I remembered a farmers wife I know who keeps her jewellery in the freezer so no-one will nick it. And then tells everyone how cunning she is. Bless.

We have a "tough guy" in Baraboo who used to tell everyone in the bars that he always kept a Smith & Wesson under the truck seat, and if anyone tried to mess with him he'd blow their brains out. You guessed it, one night he spouted off and someone went out to his truck and stole his pistol.

LOL, yep there both turkeys! I wonder if he thought his gun would go off to let him know when it was done cooking?! Maybe he didnt have a thermometer or something? Makes me wonder if he used an ear bulb to baste the thing!
Thank God I'm not related to him and I dont have to eat his cooking http://www.dumblaws.com/ubb/tongue.gif
