Super Granny- Defender Of Justice (True story)

An elderly Florida lady did her shopping and, upon returning to her car, found four males in
the act of leaving with her vehicle. She dropped her shopping bags and drew her handgun,
proceeding to scream at them at the top of her voice, "I have a gun and I know how to use it!
Get out of the car!"

The four men didn't wait for a second invitation, but got out and ran like mad, whereupon the
lady, somewhat shaken, proceeded to load her shopping bags into the back of the car and get
into the driver's seat. She was so shaken that she could not get her key into the ignition. She
tried and tried and then it dawned on her why.

A few minutes later she found her own car parked four or five spaces farther down. She
loaded her bags into her car and drove to the police station.

The sergeant to whom she told the story nearly tore himself in two with laughter and pointed
to the other end of the counter, where four pale white males were reporting a car jacking by a
mad elderly woman described as white, less than 5' tall, glasses, and curly white hair carrying
a large handgun. No charges were filed.

Had it been me that made the mistake I'd still be in jail. Granny or no, she has no business pointing a loaded pistol at people. Geez, I'm glad I'm not her water meter reader.

That's what happens if every idiot is allowed to carry a weapon. It is a worldwide phenomenon that old people usually are not sued, although more and more crimes are commited by them.

Well those oldsters certainly a lot of them anyway I guess feel the need to protect themselves somehow. My deceased Aunt heard someone trying to break into her house one night and she couldn't wake her husband so she grabbed her 38 and hollered at them then opened the door and saw them running and she fired off a few shots at them. She was about 80 at the time. Don't think she ever had any trouble after that even after her husband died.

ogb, you might not have the problem in Germany. Here the elderly are constantly be mugged in the streets or their homes being robbed. It's not a good thing, but a fact of life here...You shouldn't make a judgement until you know all the facts...

Lets not start up the gun controls thing again. I think we all made our points on that in the thread we had. http://www.dumblaws.com/ubb/smile.gif

I didn't http://www.dumblaws.com/ubb/smile.gif
But just the point: it is not different here that older people are rather victims than younger ones. But they can protect themselves more efficient. My landlords (both over 80) have a security system that the Bank of England would be envy about. And most young girls I know own a thing that gives electroshocks when touching it. It should be enough to defend.

It's not. Read our newspapers...

Don't believe everything you read in newspapers, always be critical with third hand information. I am currently working in a law firm and today I read an old file about a traffic accident. What really happened (according to experts, not to our client) had nothing to do with all newspaper articles.

I understand this about papers. I also know what I see around me. I don't like to admit it, but my country has gone to hell the last few years and isn't getting any better. I live up in the country and crime has made it's way here. 10 years ago you could go to bed with your front door wide open and only have to worry about bears walking on not someone coming to beat and rob you. I don't know if you have those problems there, but we do here...
