-Gas costs about 1.00 - 1.15 euros per litre (because the gas tax is so f*cking high),
-Life sentence is about 12-15 years,
-Trespassing is legal (ofcourse you have no right to go out of permission to someones yard),
-Police donīt need a search warrant to search your home,
-Persons under 18 years have no right to buy tobacco but they have right to smoke it,
-Persons who is 18 years old but under 20 years old have right to buy alcohol which have under 22% alcohol. Only if you are over 20 years, you have right to buy vodka, whiskey etc.,
-Stealing a car is not a theft. Itīs only "forbidden use" because you are not stealing it. You are only using it :p ,

Heh, I see that it's almost the same in Sweden, I'll comment most of your statements!

-Gas costs about 1.00 - 1.15 euros per litre (because the gas tax is so f*cking high)

Heh... same thing in Sweden, once we went over the 10 kronor limit (about 1 EUR or 1 USD)

-Life sentence is about 12-15 years

I don't really think that, because it's the same thing in Sweden, the life sentence is officially your whole life, but EVERYONE get reprieved because of certain or uncertain reasons...! Someone even escaped the country recently, when he was on an uncontrolled permission, he was convicted of murder... That's pretty sick that the laws accept to give these people uncontrolled permissions, but, Sweden has the "best" prisons in the world, TV with Playstation and games in every room, plus broadband connections in large computer rooms... If you're going to jail, you're going to suffer!!!

-Trespassing is legal (ofcourse you have no right to go out of permission to someones yard)

Don't really get what you mean... If you need permission it's not legal to just walk in, or just don't I get it?

-Police donīt need a search warrant to search your home

Could be a good thing, but not always, in Sweden it's (I think) the same way, the police don't even have to pay for the damage done, if the searching is unsuccesful, and the person is not guilty!

-Persons under 18 years have no right to buy tobacco but they have right to smoke it

Don't know anything about this one!

-Persons who is 18 years old but under 20 years old have right to buy alcohol which have under 22% alcohol. Only if you are over 20 years, you have right to buy vodka, whiskey etc.

Heh, it's even worse in Sweden, firstly, the state has alcohol monopoly, and you can't buy alcohol until you're 20, BUT, you can buy alcohol on a restaurant or a pub or whatever once you've turned 18... So you can drink alcohol out, but not at home...

-Stealing a car is not a theft. Itīs only "forbidden use" because you are not stealing it. You are only using it

Sounds strange... Could that really be true?

Ok...life sentence means in theory at you must be in prison whole your life, but president always release you when you have been in prison about 12-15 yrs.

And stealing a vehicle is a theft only if you sell it after stealing.

"Trespassing is legal" means at you have right to go someones forrest, land area etc. It not mean at you have right to go someones house, home or yard.

And sorry for my poor english skill :(

And one dumb law more from Finland (exactly I donīt know is this so stupid ;) )

Prostitution is legal.

OK, now I understand about trespassing, but that thing about the car still seems strange, surely a dumb law... I don't think legal prostitution can be considered a dumb law, since it's legal in many countries, still it might not be a dumb law though... :D

GD! Is the Puritan US the last holdout on legalizing prostitution? Do prostitutes pay taxes on their ernings there? That's the angle the US needs to consider.

The daft thing is that, like all over that world, prostitution goes on in the US just like everywhere else. The Morality of it is neither here nor there - until or unless the law is enforcible, there's little point in having the law. There are health issues in question, too: a legal, licenced brothel would have regular health checks on its staff as part of the licencing requirement. And then there's the revenue to be made from taxation... It does seem silly, in a market-driven economy, to stifle the law of supply and demand like that...

I agree Dippy. The US Navy used to issue "clean cards" to prostitutes in the Philippines when we had a base at Subic Bay. From that I gathered the US went along with prostitution as long as it was in another country. And, of course, the oldest occupation is alive and well here. I think we need to model after some other countries where it works, like Finland, and PROGRESS. You can regulate, but not ban what people want. That's why we have the BATF. Maybe it should be the BATFP.
