Ann Coulter's 'Godless' Hits NY Times #1 Spot
Ann Coulter's latest book, "Godless: The Church of Liberalism" will debut at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list for nonfiction on June 25, 2006, reflecting an extraordinary first week of sales.
This will mark Ann's fifth New York Times bestseller book.
In her completely original and thoroughly contentious work, Coulter argues, "Liberals love to boast that they are not ‘religious,’ which is what one would expect to hear from the state-sanctioned religion. Of course liberalism is a religion. It has its own cosmology, its own miracles, its own beliefs in the supernatural, its own churches, its own high priests, its own saints, its own total worldview, and its own explanation of the existence of the universe. In other words, liberalism contains all the attributes of what is generally known as ‘religion.’”

I wanted to see what the "sales rank" was at Amazon: it is #302 in books (there's 105 used copies being sold within that amazon website).
To Compare: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, a book that came out last year. To use Dusty's logic, I would have thought HP and the HBP would be further down the list since it's a year old.
it's not, it's #141 on the top best sellers list. Maybe a better comparison would be Al Franken's Truth, it is #1,049 on the best seller's list, Lies and the Lying Liars is #12,834.
To be fair, those books were released in 2005 and 2003. When they were released they reached the NYT #1 best seller list.
So here's Ann's books:
Godless 6 June 2006 (as of 3 October 2006) : #302 (I wish I knew what Al Franken's book's rankings were 3 months after Truth was released)
How to talk to a liberal (if you must (5 October 2004): #3,419
Treason (5 October 2004): #17,898
Slander: Liberal lies about the American Right (16 September 2003): #8,029
High Crimes and Misdemeanors (2002) #19,667
So Al Franken's Lies and the Lying Liars (released in 2003) is much more popular than Ann Coulter's Treason (released in 2004).
For fun here are the rankings for:
I hate Ann Coulter! (release date 24 October 2006): #227,369
The I Hate Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Sean Hannity. . . Reader: The Hideous Truth About America's Ugliest Conservatives (2004): #24,556
Brainless: The Lies and Lunacy of Ann Coulter (release date 10 October 2006): #132,039
Ann Coulter is a Skinny Blonde Idiot (May 2006): #2,069,616
I took these off the American Amazon website.
Analyse this post whichever way you like.

The #1 best selling non-fiction book of 2005 was "Natural Cures They Don't Want You to Know About" - Kevin Trudeau
Trudeau is a scum-sucking scam artist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Trudeau#Criminal_history_and_legal_problems) , so that gives you an idea what relevence best-selling books have in this culture.

Exactly. Just because Coulter sells well, doesn't mean she's worth reading.

And so you agree this pretty much sums up the idiocy of the point of this thread. :whistle

I'm sure that all fans of Ms Coulter will rush to buy Joe Maguire's new book:

Reuters sacked Maguire because of it, so it has a needy author.
