Yesterday an 17-years old boy sentenced for manslaughter to prison for 7 years. He was two years ago killed an 14-years old girl in Imatra, Finland. Iīm not generally accepting hard punishments but for violent crimes must have "real" punishments. The boy killed and innocent girl and he must sit only 1/2 for the punishment because that was his first offence :mad :mad

So how what kind of real punishments were you thinking of for this lad? (Quartering and beheading is a void). But it's hard to dish out punishments to make everyone happy but I truely believe 7 yrs in jail is enough to ruin a persons life.

For voluntary homicides and gross abuses MUST be harder punishments...I canīt understand that at if somebody kills someone or abuses the victim to invalid rest of his life and the criminal just get 2-3 years in prison...
For this kind of act, the punishment should be a life sentence, without possibility to get out before the killer has been in prison least 20 years...
Gross violent crimes is crimes what must to be "real" punishments.
BUT death sentence I can not accept...

I feel so sorry for the girl... I do however think 7 years is long enough, but he should do the full 7 :(

Ok wildangel...I partially agree what your opinion about the sentence...7 years is maybe enough for juvenile boy but yes, he shold do the full 7...but he is not serving the full. It was his first offence, so he is going to serve 1/2 what is 3 and half years and because he has been half years on custody yet, he must serve only 3 years. Think!!! 3 years for intentional CRUEL killing. So he will be released on summer 2005 when he is 20 years old and the girl will never be back again. She is DEAD, but the boy can after his sentence continue normal life :mad
