Take a look at this:

In Canada, it is illegal to publish political advertisements anonymously. If you publish your support for a certain political party or candidate, you must indicate your identity.

Also, it is illegal to publish election results from the East Coast in any way that they can be accessed on the West Coast. (This includes the Internet). In actuality this law can't work, because anyone with a (completely legal) Canadian satellite system can receive CBC, CTV and Global from the East Coast, which feature election results.

I personnaly *don't* think the bit about publicity being really weird. It does make some sense.

I'd prefer first pull all this together before entering a complete argument about it, though. I tend to get a bit ****ed up when writing down my thoughts XD

As for the second, it *is* a bit ridiculous compared to modern technology.

It may be impossible to enforce, but to me the second law makes sense. When you have elections, you want people to vote according to their beliefs/opinions. You want to prevent strategic votes. But if it's already sure, that one party won massively in the east, supporters of that party will deem it unnecessary for them to still vote, while supporters of other parties may turn out in even bigger numbers, which may have as a consequence, that because of a landslide victory in the east of the country, a party may lose tremendously in the west of the country. It may influence the elections, causing unfair elections.
